Looking down at my nails right now, all I can think is I desperately need a manicure. After keeping my nails red for the last month I sighed thinking about whether or not I was going to leave the shade be or change the entire set when I return to the salon this weekend. I am extremely suspicious and with how happy I have been as of late, Iβm hesitant to change things like my nail color as an attempt to preserve these good times. I know my nail color does not directly affect my life, but itβs an opportunity to effect your mood with color and aesthetics in a small way - albeit a little expensive.

As a big fan of astrology, of course I have favorite accounts I follow across various social media platforms, one of my favorite being a Miami based licensed social worker constantly creating content about the current astrological state of the world. At the beginning of Venus being in retrograde, the end of July, she made a tiktok about getting your nails done pink or red during this time because of the universal influence of the planet while it was retrograding - her words not mine. She immediately addresses the pink phenomena caused by the Barbie being a more likely cause but then points out the movie was released during this time - coincidence? I think she might be alluding to some astrological reason why the Barbie movie is coming out at this point in time - itβs not really clear but β¦
β¦. at the time I saw the video, I was about to get my nails done and since I had just had pink nails, I thought why not red. My decision further solidified when I did my usual quick Pinterest search βnailsβ on my way to the salon.
Although I wasnβt getting red nails because of Venus retrograding, I did think about what I had seen on Red Nail Theory on social media. The premise is your more likely to attract love into your life when you nails are painted red. See below for an explanation/example:

My thought is there has to be a scientific reason behind - similar to using red flags in bull fights. A quick google search brings you to an article on today.com about the Red Nail Theory - the tiktok they use as an example cites red being a popular nail color of the 90s, therefore it reminds the boys of Millennial and Gen Z dating age of their mothers. Honestly, not that far fetched when you think about it. The article concludes there is a deep rooted societal association with passion and the color red, due to it being the color of blood, also concluding the color being a confidence booster to the wearer. Ultimately, confidence is most attractive and the key to manifesting anything in your life, romance included.
Although not a reason in my initial decision to get red nails, I can attest to the Red Nail Theory - so much so to be safe with how suspicious I am, I replaced my old red nails with new ones to extend their residency to a full month. Now I find myself, not exactly convinced if I change the color of my nails my life will not fall apart. I guess thereβs only one way to find out the truth?
