Bet you guys didn’t think you would be hearing from me so soon, huh?
Sorry, reading that back sounded really aggressive! I was feeling inspired to deliver a fourth installment of Obsessed And On The Go as a way to make up for the so far seeming lack of regularity.
The obsessions of this issue are a tad centered around life in NYC, I have fortunately been able to stay stationary in NYC for a bit - next weekend concludes this stint before moving chaos and summer travel ensues.
To start off this issue I wanted to share some new recipes I’ve tried recently that I've absolutely fallen in love with. Although cooking is something I like to do all the time (especially when I’m between two places it’s how I like to feel grounded), when in stationary phases such as this, I really love to have fun in the kitchen and try new things.
Birria tacos - these were absolutely 5 star, mouthwatering, tasty, etc. I followed the Trader Joe’s recipe and bought their birria, I will be experimenting with my own birria stew next time…
Shirazi salad - truly my favorite to make these days, essentially just chopped tomato, cucumber, and red onion thrown together with some mint, parsley and lemon juice. Not only healthy and tasty, also great for meal prep.
This green “de-bloat” smoothie - always able to rely on
for a good, quick fix in the kitchen. I wanted the perfect smoothie for hot girl tummy issues and this does the trick while also being quite delicious.
Obsessing over…
🧘🏻♀️ Fierce Grace Yoga’s Primal Class - If you’re looking for a hot yoga class that won’t have you feeling dizzy or lightheaded BUT leaves you feeling worked out? Look no further than Fierce Grace’s strength based Primal class, after taking the same Deep Core class at the studio for almost six months I needed a new flow so I finally tried this one instead. My new favorite class. Hands down.
👔 Men’s blue/white stripe clothing, specifically boxers/pants - A trend I can (and I did) definitely get behind - part of my quest in emulating the style of the french mom from the ‘look du jour’ tiktoks…
🍜 Momofuku’s Noodlebar + their Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bao Buns - A long time fan of the Momofuku in DC, the noodlebar pork belly ramen is a go-to of mine when feeling under the weather. In an attempt to feel better amidst colds this weekend, my partner and I went for ramen however it was the specialty Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bao Buns that truly lifted our spirits. Can they start selling this cheddar hollandaise asap??
📚 Reading recently
trying a new format here, written about in order of length…
Quite literally before sitting to write this, I finished my latest ‘long-form’ read, The Bastard of Istanbul. A really beautiful novel, it follows two nineteen year old women as they discover themselves and their family history. Exploring the Armenian genocide, the book caused a stir in Turkey, courts even ‘charged novelist Elif Shafak with denigrating Turkishness’. Everyone knows I love it when something is controversial (5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
A brand rank I read after opening substack to start writing this. I LOVE it when beauty/fashion and math come together - duh, I work in beauty and do digital marketing analytics. Really interesting approach to ranking brands by consumer interaction towards brands via a specific medium, worth reading through the methodology if this kind of thing interests you.
This loving, reminiscent ode to East Village institution Cafe Mogador - the piece speaks of the restaurant opening at the same time as the authors arrival to the city in 1983 - fittingly, the restaurant also just so happens to be one of the restaurants I dined at during my first weekend living in the neighborhood.

a new addition to the newsletter 😊
A very classic Khruangbin Khruangbin album - great background music, I listen to them a lot while I’m reading/working. Pretty solid album, although none of their songs on the record come close to Maria También, Pelota or their cover of Summer Madness.
An unreleased Post Malone song called Horsepower (I was able to find it on soundcloud) was featured in the new Roadhouse remake with Jake Gyllenhaal and I solidly believe the short feature of the song was the best part of the entire movie…
A result of all the memes made about the upcoming biopic, the opus of Amy Winehouse has been on repeat at any given moment - literally, I just listen to the This is Amy Winehouse playlist again and again and again.
